Method
-
You can contact me for psychiatric and psychotherapeutic guidance. During the intake phase we discuss together what the treatment options are. A combined treatment (psychiatric and psychotherapeutic) is only possible in exceptional cases, usually I will refer you to a colleague for one of the two if possible.
-
In the work with patients and clients, I put the therapeutic relationship first. For me, this forms the basis for a joint diagnosis, treatment, aftercare and, if possible, termination of treatment. The body takes a second important place for me. On the one hand from a medical-somatic perspective, on the other hand as an important carrier of emotion and meaning. I try to apply science from the currently available guidelines and literature in interaction with the clinical reality of the individual patient.
-
In psychiatric treatment, I usually see patients once a month. This may be more frequent at the start of treatment or during a crisis. During stabilization, the frequency of consultations can decrease to once every 2 to 3 months, in combination with follow-up by the general practitioner and/or psychotherapist.
In psychotherapeutic guidance, I see clients once a week and at least every 2 weeks. The frequency can be reduced during the termination phase.
-
Consultations usually last 30 to 45 minutes and psychotherapy sessions 50 minutes. This time also involves administration time, including maintaining medical records, correspondence with your GP and having contact with your other involved caregivers.
-
In periods of limited availability, one-off consultations can be provided, in close consultation with your GP. Treatments can take place individually, in couple or family.
Education
I obtained my Master's degree in Medicine magna cum laude at KU Leuven in 2018, then specialized in adult psychiatry between 2018 and 2023, also at KU Leuven. I also followed the postgraduate course in client-oriented psychotherapy at the KULeuven between 2019 and 2023. In addition to this practice, I also work at the Queen Astrid Military Hospital.

During my five-year training as a psychiatrist, I was able to gain experience at the following internships:
-
Sint-Kamillus Bierbeek (acute care, psychosis care, dual diagnosis psychosis-addiction)
-
UPC KULeuven (care for long-term psychosis, ECT)
-
PSC Sint-Alexius Elsene/Ixelles (psychosis care, day-night hospital, sheltered living, mobile team)
-
UPC KULeuven (geriatric psychiatry, mobile team for the elderly, ECT, memory clinic)
-
UPC KULeuven (day hospital addiction, ADHD and ASD in adults)
-
CGG Brussel (deelwerking West en Zuid: outpatient care, social psychiatry-psychotherapy)

Fees
Psychiatric Consultation (RIZIV-code 109631):

We apply the "tiers payant" system, which means you only pay your own input at the end of the consultation. Your health insurance reimburses us the other part of the consultation fee afterwards. You hereby no longer need any certificate to return to your health insurance after the consultation.

-
Own input of 74,23 EUR per consultation with regular insurance
-
Own input of 63,63 EUR per consultation for students, retired, unemployed
-
Own input of 42,42 EUR per consultation (increased reimbursement, OMNIO)
-
Psychotherapy session: 7.50 EUR supplement
-
Prescriptions and certificates (outside of consultation times): a fee of 20.00 EUR might be asked. This fee might not be reimbursed by your insurance.
Private insurances: 148,47 EUR per consultation, with own input depending on your insurance. In this instance, you will recieve a certificate to get a partial reimbursement by your health insurance after the consultation.

We understand that these rates may make access to care difficult for some. However, we believe that, unfortunately, most health insurances currently don't provide equitable reimbursements allowing a good quality of care and propper training.
If this compromises access to care for you, it is best to bring this up during your consultation, to figure out whether more affordable resources (self-help, first line psychologist, CGG, group therapy, establishing a treatment plan with your GP,...) may also be of benefit.

Cancellation Policy
Changes to appointments must be made at least 48 hours (2 full working days) in advance via the secretary. If this deadline is not respected, we are unfortunatily obliged to charge a fee of EUR 60.00 for a late cancellation or missed consultation.
The average cost for us for such a missed consultation is +/- EUR 130, as we usually cannot see anyone else at that time. By billing 60.00 EUR for the missed appointment, we charge you less than half of the fee, thereby taking the other part of the fee on our charge.
